Japanese Ponzu sauce from the renowned Kikkoman brand is a classic blend of naturally brewed soy sauce, lemon juice, vinegar and sugar, used as a dressing, marinade, as well as a dipping and pouring sauce for a variety of vegetable, tofu, fish and seafood and meat dishes. Relatively unknown in Western countries, in its native Japan it is one of the most popular flavorings, right alongside soy sauce, rice vinegar and dashi.

Ponzu hides a rich array of flavors, combining the saltiness and dryness of koikuchi sauce with the refreshing, vinous accent of citrus fruit, complemented by a mild, sweet note. Even a small amount of this aromatic blend perfectly breaks up the flavor of dishes, giving them character and a refreshing, lemony note. Traditionally, ponzu sauce is used, among other things, as a complement to sashimi - perfectly fresh, thinly sliced fish and tataki - fried on the top and still raw delicacies inside, such as salmon, tuna, beef or lamb.
